What makes a role model? (part 2)

Who are your role models?

What qualities/attributes make a person a role model?

Having discussed about individual/family level, let’s look into the next levels now.

COMMUNITY/COUNTRY/WORLD LEVEL

Teachers who are really passionate about building human resource/ young leaders

Ex. my high school Sunday tutors for Geography, Moral studies, and History

My inspiring high school teachers

No matter what profession they do, role models don’t just let their life gone by with routine tasks. They make a difference in their field. They raise awareness, inspire actions, lead solutions and do something that last longer than their life.

Here are some examples:

Mentors/Seniors who help us find the way

SEALNet project’s leader and mentors have been my role models: They helped me find the way to transformed myself from just another shy Cambodian girl to be a person i am today, so i am also on board to do this for other people. (for details, please read this article back in 2007: The time i was transformed )

Charles Dickens (1812 – 1870): Writer who let the world knows about the issues in this society hundreds years ago and inspire people to have perseverance and generosity. I love many of his books, and i think the best one is:

Christmas Carol

Imagine how much contribution he has made through the writing that made him chosen to be on the currency note.

Charles-Dickens

Jubilee Project: A group of young students/employees who drop out of school and quit their high-paid daily job to follow their real passion! Making movies to inspire people to care about society and mobilize supports!

An artist: who not just perform, but take the leads in taking the art to another level.

A chief who doesn’t just cook, but educate the people about food and get us to think about the health and nutritions that saves lives.

A cartoonist who not just produce cartoon to cheers us up, but also promote some meaningful values through his work.

Keep moving forward

If you can dream it, you can do it

Singer who don’t just sing to entertain people, but use the power of the songs to promote some great ideologies.

Social volunteers: People who contribute time and effort to help others.

Volunteer

A social Entrepreneur, whose main focus is mainly on helping people rather than getting rich

Rich people who distribute the wealth to contribute to solve world’s issues

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Scientists who don’t just invent useful things for the world, but also inspired us with admirable determination and commitment.
